Tropical Storm Isaias strengthened a bit this morning, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph, while moving northwest at about 20 mph. Isaias has already generated high winds and life-threatening flash flooding over Puerto Rico but is expected to weaken slightly as it interacts with the terrain of the Dominican Republic.
Strengthening is likely to occur on Friday and Friday night as the system moves over warm water. Predicted hurricane track ensembles suggest that Isaias will stay just east of Florida but there is still uncertainty due to Isaias’ slow movement and potential intensification over the next 24 hours.
