Overnight Storms Batter the Twin Cities Area

The Twin Cities metro area was battered by severe storms late Sunday into early Monday morning, which brought large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rains. 

Winds of 61 mph were reported at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Multiple storm reports of hail 1.5 inch or larger were recorded in Hennepin County.

By Monday 4 a.m., the Twin Cities’ National Weather Service office reported a 24-hour rainfall total of 5.52 inches. Flash flood warnings were in effect until 7:45 a.m.
