The 2020 Hurricane Season looks to be getting an early start. The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor a storm system over southern Florida that is expected to develop into a tropical depression by tomorrow.

“An area of low pressure is expected to develop this weekend a couple hundred miles northeast of the Bahamas,” according to the National Hurricane Center. Forecast chance of tropical development is 80%.

The system is forecasted to stay east of the U.S. mainland, but expected to bring heavy rainfall and high wind gusts to areas from southeastern Florida to northwestern Bahamas.

The Atlantic hurricane season doesn’t officially begin until June 1st, though storms have formed before that date each year since 2016.
