Tropical Storm Bertha, the second named tropical system this year, has formed off the coast of Florida.
The storm center is located around 30 miles east-southeast of Charleston and is moving toward the South Carolina coast. It made landfall in the Carolinas on Wednesday.
“Bertha is expected to produce heavy rainfall across portions of eastern and central South Carolina, west-central, and southwest Virginia. This rainfall may produce life-threatening flash flooding,” the National Hurricane Center stated. Dangerous surf and rip currents will be likely along the coasts of Georgia and the Carolinas throughout the day.
