5.5 magnitude earthquake rattles Southern California

A 5.5 magnitude aftershock of the Ridgecrest quake struck the Searles Valley at 6:32 PM on Wednesday. 

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the epicenter 14 miles east of Ridgecrest, California, at a depth of 4.3 miles. Shaking was felt across Southern California and as far as the Las Vegas valley. 

In the last 10 days, there have been five earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
